Domestic Violence and Abuse-A Father Who Cares

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)

crying-man-29514673A father who cares. In honor of Father’s Day.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (I Peter 5:7)

On Father’s Day the pastor spoke of the importance of having an honorable dad. But as he spoke, tears slid down her face. She was instantly embarrassed, and quickly brushed them away. Although sensitive to the pain of an unfulfilled relationship, she was hesitant to acknowledge the hurt. She was afraid.

Many times she noticed other women and their fathers, as the warmth of his love spilled over their lives like a bubbling waterfall. But, for her, that part of the puzzle was missing.

Her mother also mentioned that her father didn’t want her. Although she needed him, he didn’t need her. However, this lack in her life only made love difficult to understand.

Over time, and through the years, she became obsessed in her search for someone to fill that void. “So, why did I come to church on Father’s Day?” she whispered under her breath. “Why am I here?” I wish there was someone who could make everything right. I need a father.

It was then the Holy Spirit whispered in her ear. “You have a father,” he said. “God is your father. He will make everything right.”

A calm, peaceful feeling then settled over her spirit as those words were whispered in her heart. This was going to be a good day after all.

And now, when she’s overwhelmed with the issues of life, and needs someone to lean on, she can rest in the arms of her heavenly Father. He is the father she always wanted, and needed.

Vows and Lies-Violence and Resolution

13470-jar-bubble-safe-woman-hide-glass-wide.1200w.tnAbuse and domestic violence are stains on society that require absolution and resolve. But during the struggle, learn who to trust, and lean on them.

“Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint” (Proverbs 29:19)

There are things others can do for you, but there are some things only you alone can do.

Decide what your life is worth, and then take action to escape your abuser. “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you” (2 Thessalonians 1:6)

Remember. There is healing, and comes from God above.

What’s wrong with me? J. Meyer, a well-known and avid Bible teacher, was able to work through her abuse by leaning on Jesus.

Domestic Violence and Abuse-God’s Order

1962627_232150493638577_308694012_n“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)

How important is order in the family?

Excerpt from book Vows and Lies by Phoebe Leggett

A man’s wife must come first. And, because the woman was created from a rib in Adam’s body, she was designed to walk beside him; not above or beneath him.

“Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought her to the man” (Genesis 2:22).

Eve was created from a part of Adam’s body which allowed her the status of walking beside him, but not beneath him. She was also fashioned to be his helper, and not a servant.

“The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18)

When a man leads his family with the mindset he alone rules, the family is in serious danger of collapsing. But as leader of the family, he should reverence the role he was created for. “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required:” (Luke 12:48)

Domestic Violence and Abuse-Obession

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)Excerpt from book Vows and Lies by Phoebe Leggett

“Come in here,” Blake said; voice tense—words demanding.

Dreading what was ahead, Jessica cautiously entered the living room. “I don’t think this is going to be a good thing,” she whispered.

He glanced up, and then motioned her over. “I rented a movie for tonight,” he said.

“What movie?” she asked, and then looked down. The letters XXX leaped out from the cover of a black and white case, now opened and positioned on the table. “Is this a porno movie?”

“Sit down,” he said. “You need to watch it with me.”

“I don’t want to watch it,” she said, and took two steps back. “I don’t think you should either.”

“I’m watching it, and so are you.”

“No, I’m not.”

“I said you are. Now get over here.”

“I don’t want to watch,” she said, and again edged toward the hallway.

“This will make our marriage better,” he said. But then his eyes glazed, and she noted a wine cooler in his hand. He never drinks this stuff. What is he doing?

“What if the kids wake up?” she asked, then glanced down the hall while her brain scrambled for more excuses.

Domestic Violence and Abuse-Transformer

5686halloween-predator“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)

Abusers have more than one personality. At first they appear as an angel, and display perfection and sincerity.

But, over time, that changes. They then become a tyrant.

Their truth is now exposed.

Fact one. You can’t change them. You can only run from them.

2 Corinthians 11

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
